MATT SMITH
While still in high school, Matt participated in five student film festivals garnering nominations for Best Screenplay and winning Second place drama two years running at the British Columbia Student Film Festival. In his senior year, Matt won Best Senior Secondary Film Editor in the province. Matt attended Queen’s University at Kingston, where he graduated with a degree in Politics and History with honours. Afterwards, he graduated from Vancouver Film School’s screenwriting program. The last short film Matt wrote and directed during his production programme was selected for multiple film festivals including a nomination for Best Canadian Short at the Hollywood Film North Awards and Official Selection at the Toronto Lift-Off Film Festival.
JONATHAN RUFFLE
Jonathan Ruffle is known for show-running Tommies (2014-2018), the 42 episode real-time BBC epic, building on his success with Len Deighton's Bomber (1995). His two feature documentaries Stanley's War (2018) and The War Just Outside Ipswich (2020) used the sound effects he recorded for Sir Peter Jacksons's 2018 They Shall Not Grow Old. An accomplished comedy writer, he worked on over 150 episodes of Never Mind The Buzzcocks (1996-2007) for the BBC.
